MCLE Speaker Spotlight: Nancy Hoffman and Teri Scarlett
Dr. Hoffman a geriatric neuropsychologist in Santa Rosa with a forensic practice focusing on the assessment of capacity, undue influence, conservatorships, and elder abuse in older adults. She specializes in the differential diagnosis of the various forms of dementia and their influence on capacity. She serves as an expert witness and has testified on issues of capacity and undue influence. She is the author of “The Assessment of Testamentary Capacity and Undue Influence in the Older Adult,” Chapter 10 in Forensic Geropsychology: Practice Essentials (2018 by the American Psychological Association).
She has been an active leader in the neuropsychological community, as the former President of the Northern California Neuropsychology Forum and as the past chair for Division VIII (Neuropsychology) of the California Psychological Association
Teri Scarlett is a graduate of Monterey College of Law and has 30 years of experience as a legal services attorney. She is currently the Managing Attorney at Legal Services for Seniors in Seaside, CA. She was the Chief Deputy at the Monterey County Public Guardian office for 5 years where she acted as a probate conservator for Monterey County residents. She is adjunct professor at Monterey College of Law and teaches workshops in Limited Conservatorships and Restraining Orders.
